I have a 12.5in SxS which pretty much is the same use case. It is almost too nice for being a truck/backpack gun. I can easily hit my steel plate at 50m with cheap score 1 1/8in slugs, but other people do not like shooting that load. I am a bit hesitant to try the Brenneke stuff just for fear of the action not tolerating it.

I've considered but found an older first gen Backpacker. They are a blast to shoot.

I have a similar shotgun (Trailhand) that's a little smaller (well, considerably) and I think about a pound lighter.
These kinds of guns are very fun to shoot, 3" magnum will make you feel like someone roundhouse kicked you in the shoulder if you send more than a dozen downrange. Other loads (target, shortshells) are much more friendly.
They serve their purpose very well. I'm currently trying to figure out how to mount a rail of some sort on mine for a micro dot and sourcing a set of subcaliber inserts to broaden its' utility as a survival/backpack gun.

I've had mine for a number of years now and have had a great time with it. Hasn't let me down, doesn't pretend to be something it's not. Goes bang everytime.
3" magnum slugs are fun to shoot, 2 3/4" target loads are easily done one handed.
I've put so many shells through mine, even though its a single shot, a great time overall.
