I’d imagine they are now actually trying to plan how to collect the rifles.

Let’s look at the numbers.

Apparently declarations will be reviewed till May. From May to October they need to collect 370 guns every single day without weekend or holidays to make it before the amnesty.

That’s 15 rifles collected every hour without a break.

It takes about 20 minutes to verify and secure a rifle according to TPS. This comes out to 22,333 man hours of labour or 930 days of man hours of labour.

There is 182 days before amnesty expires.

These labour hours do not include transpiration to and from said firearm.

According to the Federal police association, they haven’t even been informed what vehicles they will be using or if they’re even obtained yet.

According to Gemini Public Safety Canada needs about 250 to 400 full time trained staff for the next 6 months working on this to pull it off. These individuals will have to be located or deployed across Canada, which means food and lodging needs to be covered.

Considering they’ve already blown the budget, not sure how they will pay these people.

Public Safety Canada needs to recruit up to 400 retired or odd duty officers, provided up to 60 to 100 full time vans operating full time. Public safety Canada would have to fuel up the van when gas is expected explode this spring / summer.

I’m legitimately wondering….what is going on in their minds when thinking about this task?

Or perhaps they’ll approve Quebec only, decline everyone else and tell them pound sand say they succeeded?

I’ve been saying since the beginning, they have no intention of taking the guns away. Just dragging this shit out as long as they can to use as wedge issues in an election.

They’re trying to get the CPC to put forth policy that reverses this, so they can say “look at the death machines those right wing extremists want to give to people!!!”

Well the CPC clearly isn't...... "Taking the bait" on that one.

Jagmeet was the only one to comment, and relatively supportively during the last leaders debate.

You'd think the CPC would at least laud and assist the supreme court challenge....

CPC MPs are regularly still bringing this up in the house. CPC MPs have been at CCFR protests. They're doing as much as they can without being openly branded as "gun nuts" to the general public basically. It is a fine line they do have to walk. Many Canadians would be sort of put off by too much "fanfare" about guns unfortunately. 

I also don't know if the CPC would be allowed to whatsoever get involved with the court case. It could be labelled as political interference and be turned on them easily (even though the Liberals play political interference all the time with their appointed judges). I think the CPC is doing a good job, with the parameters they have to work within currently.

NDP being more pro-gun than the CPC is an absurd take.

PP regularly brings up the Liberals attacks on gun owners. Not to mention that the NDP under Jugmeat voted for every anti-gun bill the Liberals passed under his tenure.

I didn't say NDP was more pro-gun than CPC.

I'm saying that when the country was watching, during the leaders debate, the NDP leader was the only one that spoke on the issue.

I don't care about who the CPC attacks. I actually couldn't care less. I want to see what they can do.

Doug Ford does more to support gun owners by a long shot.

As for the bills. Silently voting no or abstaining does not impress me either.

You can tell that the Liberals were as shocked as we were that Canadians were dumb enough to re-elect them last election, and that they had zero plans in place to follow through on their ban and theyve been scrambling to look like theyve been making progress ever since.

Yup they expected the cpc to win so next election cycle they could rag on the conservatives for scrapping the gun ban.
