Gun and gear reviews Today I learned…
The 1301 ghost ring sight housing is plastic. Mine came over torqued and cracked from the factory. Hairline crack through the housing in front of the front mounting screw. Haven’t even used it yet. Here’s hoping Stoeger can work quickly to replace this!
Unreal for a $2k+ firearm…

They have the part in stock, so hopefully you get it asap. Alternatively you could have it in 3 days for 75 bucks off the website.
I sent them an email once about a part and to their credit, they got back to me....After 3.5 months.

Yeesh that’s a long wait time. Out of principle I don’t want to give them any more money for something plastic. Going to start looking at all-metal options now.

I went with the gg&g half moon rmr mount, it really opens up the view taking the oem one off.

That sucks. Totally get the disappointment after spending so much.
Another (and likely more robust) solution is to swap it out for an optic mount like the Aridus CROM that has its own built in rear sight…..

Well if it's anything like vehicles warranty is very limited mostly pertaining to the action and Barrel. But like I said Stoeger will want to keep face I know I had an issue with them and they fixed it right away very happy on the phone

It's the MBAs that squeeze out a few bucks cost on a gun. The aftermarket immediately solved it. Plastic sights on a combat gun is pants on head. We have Glock stock sights to thank for normalizing it.

Ask him to shoot faster than one second intervals. 1301 is still the king imo. Plastic sights aside, its been the best shotgun I've ever owned. Never missing a beat. And hell I just found out at the range yesterday it's dead on at 100yards with slugs. Shit happens, my buddies m4 had and still has issues feeding many low powered or reduced recoil loads, and sometimes has feeding issues with magnum loads. Again, shit happens. No need to throw all your toys out of your toybox.

Better than by miles, a plastic sight can be replaced. Being literally slower firing and having feeding issues with low powered loads is worse imo. But to each their own I guess

everyone i've shot eats low recoil birdshot no problem, and in terms of "slower" realistically no one is outrunning them ever.

I literally outshoot the m4 everytime I touch it, even after my arms are tired. It's not even that hard to do it once you can use push pull properly. My point was the 1301 is faster than the m4. That's just a fact. My point about my buddies having issues is that anecdotes happen (mentioned in another comment). Shit happens. When you make thousands of something there is bound to be issues even with the best QC. I beat the tar out of my 1301 and my rear sight is fine, some scratches on the side of the guard but the ghost ring is perfect.
1301>m4 literally no contest, price and performance wise. Quality being equal more or less.

Quality being equal really is stretching it when the whole gun was made to be light and less expensive in large part due to all the plastic used, the forearm spacer in the gas system, barrel clamp, magazine tube cover, ect. all break. The 1301 was a decent proposition when the cost cutting heavy usage of plastic was reflected in the price when first released, they were a great value at $900 USD new. Since they became popular Beretta has repeatedly jacked up the price to where they are often more than double that now. They're still a dressed up low end sporting clays gun quality wise.
They do have a faster cyclic speed i'll give them that, and they do point really nice because they are so light, but are absolutely nowhere near as well built.
Also straight out lmao at "literally outshoot the M4 everytime I touch it", documented split times put the cyclic rate is under .15 sec. So everytime you shoot it you're dumping off 6+ shots in a second? Literally every time? lel, ok Jerry. If that happens to be true post a video.

Bro trying to say I'm Jerry because I can outshoot a sluggish m4 is wild. I have side by side compared the two, and have found the performance lacking in the m4. I'm an anecdote again, not the standard. All the alleged issues you've pointed out, I have not had after beating my gun relentlessly every Sunday for nearly a year.
I'd also like to point out, the m4 I have shot, was also outshot by a novice shotgun shooter. If the split times were really that fast, then the SPECIFIC m4 I have shot might be an outlier, again, an anecdote. I don't regularly see people having any of the issues you point out, and there's 6 of us I know that shoot them at my local range.
You won't change my mind and it shouldn't matter to you. The 1301 is just plain better imo. Again, I'm an anecdote, not the standard, it's my opinion, and your mileage may vary.

"Plain better" because it cycles faster and you claim you can outrun one everytime you shoot it is a heavy stretch. Especially when if you're actually trying to make hits and not just make shells disappear it's irrelevant if there's any truth to what you're saying it's a substantial outlier because while the blink system does cycle faster (at the cost of increased recoil) the M4 is NOT a "sluggish" gun. They're both relatively quick for a self loading shotgun, the 1301 just leans really fast in that direction by reducing the mass of the reciprocating components, which is a tradeoff.
Anyways we're literally in a thread about the plastic parts the 1301 leans heavily into breaking, so, ya know.

An over tightened part broke, you over tighten anything it can break. Not ops fault but it happens. And yes the specific one I shoot I put shoot it. And I can hit a target just fine doing it. You clearly don't train with shotguns very much if you think that's hard to do.

Also, beating relentlessly is shooting 50 rounds of buckshot and similar amounts of slugs, and at least 150 rounds of birdshot every Sunday for over a year now actually. And 150 rounds is the low end, I usually shoot a flat or more every weekend. Thank fuck for ramakos bringing in tons of cheap flats

If its plastic, cant you glue/epoxy it in the meantime? Sounds like warranty will take a long while to get back to you

Maybe. Except whoever did this at the factory over-torqued it so much that the screw is lodged in the housing. Not sure how much I’d trust glue/epoxy on a shotgun sight anyways.

Funny enough, I’ve seen people with 1301s get rid of the ghost ring sight altogether for red dots. There are a lot of aftermarket parts for it.

That sucks - I have a prism on mine so it would be a non issue for me but it is nice to at least have something as a backup

Have a look at the second pic. The screw was overtorqued and has cracked the seam towards the rear. It’s pushed in through the plastic so the threads can’t catch to back it out. The front seam is also cracked but requires a good amount of forward pressure on the screw to show it.

A buddy of mine had a similar issue awhile back. Had to fight for warranty to cover it but it worked out in the end.

That doesn't look like a crack from the pictures, it just looks like an injection mold seam line. If it is indeed a crack, good luck with stoeger canada, they are terrible.
