Application / Regulation advice Missing Round from box…
Bought this box of norinco 7.62x39 and there was a round missing…
idrc about the loosing 50cents but is this potentially something I should be worried about/bring up?
I bought it from Canadian tire, I’m hopping this is just a manufacturing error or something not theft.

Not worth the hassle. What's your time worth?

One round not worth the hassle but maybe they hook buddy up with a half-crate for the inconvenience?

Unrelated, but one time I had a round of 5.45x39 in a package of .223 ammo from Barnaul. That was a very unpleasant hard extraction. I think I'd rather have one less round instead lol

Damn I feel like I’d notice but I’ve never had that happen so idk😂

Like while putting round in mag

For context I was working as an instructor at a rental range at the time. I got very good at loading mags without looking, and when you're loading a couple thousand rounds every shift, you tend to expect factory ammo to be boringly consistent.
Without looking, they're so similar in size, shape and weight that I missed it.

I believe it was on Ron Spomers YouTube channel that he had factory boxes with the incorrect ammo in it. I can’t remember exact details or brand but I believe he had a box of .308 with one or two 6.5cm in it, or a box of 6.5 that had 1 or 2 .308. Something like that.

That's a pretty big fuckup by Barnaul. I could see how someone would miss that when loading mags fast. 5.45x39 is pretty rare up here as very few guns ever were imported chambered in it.

They should’ve written that it’s missing a round on the box……..

I wrote that…

I just realized you wrote "-19rd" not "-lard"
Tought that was a weird signature.

chinese guy in the factory stole it as the last piece required for his elaborate escape. Dont report it, dont blow his cover.

I bought a box of slugs at CT. When i got home opened them up and there was target load inside. Went back to the store to tell them they looked at me like I have 3 eye balls.

First mistake was going into Crappy Tire. Second mistake was trusting their merchandise.

Yeah the rural one by me has some crazy good deals on guns. They're like $100-$200 cheaper than any prices I can find online. Crazy good deals. Had a CZ600 alpha in 223 for $700 last time I was in there.

Man, Leduc common Canadian tire has better selection than both the Cabelas in Edmonton, I'd rather go there than outdoor themes Walmart (Crapellas)

The time you took posting this was already worth more than the round…

I'm surprised Canadian Tire is still allowed to sell dangerous goods. They don't give a fuck 99% of the time 💀

I recently had the same issue with a 300 round brick of CCI Mini-Mags... but thankfully that was only $0.10. It still peeved me nevertheless!

I’m sure if you brought this to Canadian Tires attention they’d gladly replace the box

I bet they also take one from 19 other boxes and sell it as a 20th box /j

Happened to me with a box of Sellior and Bellot .243 … figured the roughly $2 wasn’t even worth the gas, plus the store could have just said that I was full of shit

Ask for a new box if you think it's worth your time. I doubt it is. Otherwise, you can't buy a decent coffee for that price, so I certainly wouldn't bother with it.

I mean i would definitely call and ask the store before going back there. Maybe its not the first time this happened?

u/GodsGiftToWrenching Mar 26 '26
Yeah this is why I open every box of ammo I get that isn't glued shut. I got gyped a couple rounds of .308 GMM before

I work at a CT, whenever we discover boxes of shells with any missing they're discounted. Should have been that way at your store too, but not every store treats their outdoor sports section the same.

Some Russian person in the bullet factory is probably laughing his ass off knowing someone will be missing one
Edit: Chinese person
