Buy recommendations Help me splurge!!! 💸
Hey guys - it finally looks like I'll have my PAL/RPAL in hand this week based on the update on my RCMP Profile.
I've been to a store to browse around but it's pretty overwhelming especially as someone new in the hobby.
I do want to stock up on a few different types, I know I'll be in the range quite a bit and think they're just beautiful in general.
I've also been looking at a lot of the reviews here on Reddit but I'm looking to see if I could get some consolidated feedback from this community before I "pull the trigger" 😫 on these purchases. Here's what I'm considering:
1) EGE Panzer M4 Speed Pro (12GA Semi)
2) Federation Firearms GK12 Gatekeeper Pump (12GA Pump)
3) Adler Arms RF224 (11.7")
4) Derya TM22 (18 or 16") - **I've seen quite a bit of mixed reviews on these. Also not sure if I should just wait for 18" to be in stock.
5) ATI SKS w Folding Stock
6) S&W 1854 Stealth Hunter - **Not sure what caliber/ammo I should go for
let me know your thoughts!

Buy a nova 3 or a Mossberg 590a1 for pump, get a tikka bolt action of your choice, for semi get a benelli m2. Most importantly get a french tickler sks.

I’ll echo the other advice, Turkish delights never last long if you use them hard.
-I’d get a 14” 590a1 or a shockwave and install a SGA stock. -Beretta 1301 for semi (it’s better for 99% of people) coming from a guy with an M4. M4 or M2 are great choices as well of course.
- Ruger 10/22 of some flavour, or build a sbr.
- Maybe a tikka bolt gun in your caliber of choice.
- SKS for fun mag dumps
Not particularly in that order.

Remember, the real cost of ownership of any firearm is the price of its ammo. The actual price of the gun will be minimal compared to the ammo price over time.
So IMO, go to town and get yourself something nice if you can. Forget Turkish firearms.
First figure out what purpose you want it for, then look at ammo, then choose your model of firearm.
You can't go wrong with a nice 12ga shotgun, but again depending if you want it most for clays, you'll want a model with a longer barrel more suitable to clays. Also can't go wrong with a nice .22LR for plinking.
Remember your choice may also be affected by what sort of ranges you have nearby and what they're equipped for.

Good insightful advice, listen to this guy OP.
22LR is a great way to learn the fundamentals without breaking the bank. Supplement that with 12g to make sure you don't anticipate recoil or start getting complacent with your stance, grip or recoil control. If you're a fairly active centrefire target shooter you'll exceed the cost of the gun pretty quick. Additionally, don't forget the cost of properly "kitting out" or adding accessories to a tactical firearm - optic, flashlight, sling, spare magazines, grips, stocks, bipod, etc.

Worth looking at the no stealth hunter ones too
The stainless is a great look, and usually cheaper. Hard to go wrong with it.
I got the traditional one as well and really love it. But I probably wouldn't have picked it at normal price. I got mine discounted pretty decently because 45 colt just wasn't as popular I guess. It was cheaper in the wood stock than the stainless/synthetic one is regularly

That's on my list! Do you have any suggestions on caliber? It'll be for range use only but I'd like to have fun (while staying affordable on ammo?)

If you want to stay affordable ammo get it in 357. Itll feel 38 spl which can usually be had for .60 o .70 cents around, sometimes better if theres sales. And if you want more kick 357 is available under a buck a round as well

Turkish guns have turkshit consequences I have the panzer, it's a joy to shoot, not a single issue. I would say that the tm 22 is a better pick over the rf-224 based on what I've heard from my buddies, and In my opinion ati stocks on SKS defeat the history and purpose. If you want to go the build it right route with semi 22lr get a 10/22 needs some work but well worth it

Ruger American ranch 7.62x39 so you have ammo compatibility with your sks.
If you get a mag adapter for the sks so you can use AR style mags, you can also get (or print) a mag adapter for the ruger american ranch so you will also have mag compatibility.

Although the first 4 may look cool, they are not good firearms. Get a Benelli m4, used by many around the world. Life long firearm

I want #1 (EGE Panzer M4 Speed Pro). Have my eye on it and plan to get one.
Save your money on Adler RF224. Very few of us can get them to run reliably. I know many people who own one, including myself. And only one person has it running reliably enough to compete with. And we are making various mods to fix the problem with no success. So skip that one.
I have Derya TM22 (18") and love it. Super reliable .22. Literally no stoppages unless operator error. I know other people having same experience with that gun. So no mistake there. Derya Feather with 12" barrel supposed to be arriving in Canada in June. I'll get one for the barrel and put it on my metal Derya.

Go find a pre 2007 Remington 870, one of the best pump action 12 gauge shotguns ever. Not sure why but this sub sucks off the mossbergs and neglects the Remington

If I was getting a turkish semi I’d get a tac imports one because of the lifetime warranty. (My actual Turkish shotgun cost $150 though).

I know that people have good intentions with the recommendation, and the M4 certainly would be a lasting and reliable firearm, and much much better than the Turkish knock offs but...
Yeah, it's quite a price for a first timer I'd think, unless it was a person's dream shotgun, not sure I'd recommend it off the bat. I guess OP did ask for everyone to help him spend money.

I guess in the perspective of truly doing burn downs or just mad amounts or life long shooting it does make sense but everything I own is “budget” lol (and I love every single one even tho I know fudds would not lol)

Turkish shotguns definitely have a reputation for being bad, and I would generally agree. They tend to have a decent finish, but they'll typically fail before the major names will. They also tend to be a bit more difficult to get parts and service for, which is also a problem.
However, the TM22 is pretty solid all around. They do have a higher chance of getting a dud rifle than the actual competitor (10/22), but that's not really saying much. The 10/22 is so old and refined that it would be outright bizarre for something new to be more reliable than it.
In this situation, I'd ask if you think you're the type who'd dump a bunch of money into upgrade parts into a rifle. Not optics or attachments, but things like triggers and chassis. If you are, then the 10/22 might be more up your alley as it is more customizable. However, if you plan to just buy the rifle once and then not change it much, the TM22 will be better.

Honestly I highly recommend the tm22. I've got a Gen 1 and it's been running great the whole time I've owned it. A few ftf, but that's been it.

What's on your list? Bruh my brother got his PAL/RPAL before I did, and I applied before him LOL
I had to message CFO ON and get an update, they said it takes 6 months on average (I emailed them at the 4 month mark), and ended up getting it at the 5 month mark.

#6 is a great firearm. If you intent is to target shoot and have fun the .357 is cheap and more than capable. Can also shoot .38 special. Some Turkish stuff is ok, some can be poor quality. I once owned a TM22 and Canuck, both have been sold.

One of the most common things you'll see on this sub are warnings about Turkish guns. The quality is garbage.
If you truly want to splurge, skip the first two and get a real Benelli M4 and a decent pump, like a Mossberg 590 or Benelli Supernova.
Alternatively, you can get an M2 and Maverick 88 if you don't want to spend that much. Both are incredibly capable guns that will be miles better than anything from Turkey.
Buy once, cry once.
