Anyone writing to their Premiere?

The CCFR suggested people write to their Premiere to speak out against the gun grab and to encourage them to do what Manitoba has done.

CCFR has templates for email or snail mail letter. I thought a snail mail letter may be taken more seriously by the Premiere’s office since letters take more effort than an email.

But the template letter they posted follows the typical written letter format. ie your name and address listed at the top of the page.

As soon as I saw that, it made me not want to write a letter for fear that anyone who speaks against the gun grab and puts their name and address to it, can be used to create an unofficial registry.

Does anyone else have similar concerns? I feel slightly paranoid about this but then again, how can one not be paranoid when you look at the way the govt has treated its citizens.

I’m considering sending a letter but not including my address and possibly using a pseudonym. There’s a chance they won’t take it seriously without name and address but that’s beyond my control. All I can do is write a letter or not.

Interested in others’ opinions.

What did Manitoba do? I wrote mine encouraging them to follow Saskatchewan's recent actions.

Wab Kinew said he's against it. He has a PAL himself and is an avid hunter according to some interviews from years ago.

CBC:

"The minister said the government will always respect law-abiding firearm owners, pointing out that Premier Wab Kinew is a gun owner.

The Manitoba Wildlife Federation said in a statement it welcomed Manitoba's opposition to the initiative, saying there is "nearly unanimous consensus" it's costly and ineffective while failing to improve public safety."

oh, so he said some things. Got it. Still prefer AB and SK's approach of actually doing some things instead of just words.

As a Manitoban, it's still better than nothing. I would have loved to have seen them take a page from Alberta & Sask's playbook however.

He's a firearms owner when it's convenient for him, like vote hunting at an urban riding.

He's not when it comes to anything that could cause potential political difficultly for him, like enacting a copy-paste of Sask's legislation.

He's the most popular provincial Premier in Canada, has a strong majority, and his largest competition is the absolute shit-show of an opposition party.

His party's inaction on passing anti-buyback legislation speaks volumes on how much he actually gives a crap about Manitoba's legal firearm owners.
