That’s the thing I don’t get.

Gary is comically ignorant of existing Canadian firearm laws. He’s been recorded saying it will have no effect on gun violence. Yet he’s still in his position.

I can only assume he’s a fall guy in case it fails?

But doesn’t he realize this himself? Is there no self respect? Im no political expert by any means, but I can’t imagine mp’s are that stupid he doesn’t see how he looks handling this.

Re your last line, no I'm not sure he's smart enough to see the risk. Otherwise he would have likely seen the risk before he took the position, and declined it.

My take on Gary, is he's one of the types who thinks exact loyalty to the party will secure his future. Which in fairness has worked for quite a few over the years.

This is true. There’s no shortage of unqualified ministers who have performed miserably, just to be shuffled into a different position

That's basically our whole government at this point. Recycled ministers over and over, despite complete incompetence and no knowledge of the file they're supposed to manage.

For God's sake, our minister of jobs was a graphic designer before being elected and appointed to a cabinet position.

Honestly Canadians should be outraged over the incompetence of the cabinet, but the Canadian way is just to bury your head in the sand and scream about fascists, I guess? eLboZe up!!!

The immigration Minister is another great example. No idea how she's qualified to run such a critical file, and she's essentially being shielded in the house by other MPs because they know she can hardly string together a coherent sentence.
