Milsurps / Prohib M1 Garand Thoughts

I would really like to get another M1 Garand ( had one in the 90s I had to let go, for $350). I know that no one can predict the future here but what are the odds it ends up on the list?

Spending $3000 on a well-used gun from 80 years ago is a tough pill to swallow for me, especially considering the sheer number of them out there - it's not exactly some rare gun. It's also a very obvious candidate for a future ban since it's one of the last semi autos available. No clue how or why it didn't get swept up in the last couple of OICs where they targeted a bunch of super niche WWII rifles. You can argue that "everything" will eventually get banned, which is probably true, but the M1 is very likely fairly imminent.

Because the legislation they were passing specifically mentioned detachable mags and the guns they put on the list had to relate to that legislation if the liberals didn't want it to be able to be thrown out in court.
