Milsurps / Prohib M1 Garand Thoughts

I would really like to get another M1 Garand ( had one in the 90s I had to let go, for $350). I know that no one can predict the future here but what are the odds it ends up on the list?

If you can get a good one yes, recently I’ve seen more unusable ones than decent ones so they can be a bit of a risky buy

How did you test to know the unusable ones? Not like the owner'd let you send a few rounds through it

That’s where it gets tricky, some stuff is easy to spot like I recently came across one with a worn out op rod track so it’d pop off of the receiver, another one the trigger group latch was off so that it wouldn’t stay engaged, but stuff like headspace issues are head to catch without gages or shooting them. You kinda just have to be meticulous about them and not be too eager so that you make a bad purchase
