The bill makes important changes to Section 34 of the Criminal Code so that force is presumed to be justified if used against an illegal intruder. Conservatives first announced the ‘Stand on Guard’ principle back in August, asking the government to introduce legislation in the fall session.

It'd be nice if people weren't punished for making split second decisions when it comes to defending themselves, their families and their property.

That level of thoughtfulness is reserved for paid, trained police, who in the heat of theoment may have violently overreacted.

I guess positive target identification and knowing what's behind it is something only civilians need to worry about.
