News / Politics / Activism Stand on Guard - Conservative Party of Canada

https://www.conservative.ca/stand-on-guard-2/

The bill makes important changes to Section 34 of the Criminal Code so that force is presumed to be justified if used against an illegal intruder. Conservatives first announced the ‘Stand on Guard’ principle back in August, asking the government to introduce legislation in the fall session.

Idk bruddah, account is 3 days old, and they've got -34 karma... I really can't see the firearms community discriminating against someone for showing an interest in something as "in the media" as gun ownership is right now. We're trying to open people's eyes right now, not gate keep. Sensing rage bait

I hate that I cant know whether this is satire. The left has gone so insane.

What lies exactly? The CPC hardly even pays lip service to firearms issues.

Conservatives lie to get votes, they rarely follow through on promises, other people in here have made that point and got downvoted of course

Yeah those pesky conservatives promised voting reform and then ditched it. Oh wait.

I get you don't like them politically for whatever reason of your choice, but at least base your argument in fact instead of emotion.

How would voting reform benefit YOU? if anything it would hurt the conservative movement so you should be HAPPY the libs didnt act on it...

It would benefit all Canadians and allow better representation across the board. It might be a crazy concept, but I actually give a shit about policies and weigh them not just on the color of the team.

But if you're so conservatives bad locked you can't understand that, well there's no helping you there.

No way, politicians fall through on their campaign promises? Never would have imagined.

I'm guessing the link or the title just sets them off in droves.

Combine that with some people doing their work for free and here we are lol.

Dont waste your time, this sub is full of "single issue/gun first" voter.

They look at the USA right now and dont see an issue, or delude themself thinking that "our" Right is different for some reason.

I tried to argue in good faith in the past, and they are either brainwash, bad actor, braindead, completely disconnected.

Wow. Calling an entire community “brainwashed” or “braindead” because they engage in discussions about firearms isn’t an argument, it’s a dismissal. Plenty of people here are capable of nuanced thought and care about more than just guns, but it's also a firearms sub, do you go to mcdonalds and expect fine dining?

They look at the USA right now and dont see an issue, or delude themself thinking that "our" Right is different for some reason.

The idea that any Canadian conservative or firearms enthusiast automatically mirrors the US right-wing wholesale is factually lazy. Politics and culture aren’t carbon copies across borders, and assuming they are just makes you the one being disconnected.

Even our right wing parties still maintain what would be considered incredibly leftist policies in the states.

If anything, engaging with the community critically, without painting everyone with the same brush is the way to actually have a discussion, not whining that they don’t conform to your assumptions or align 100% with your beliefs.

People suck dawg.... You wanna chat about fondue while we're here btw?

2

u/Lumindan Mar 13 '26

Not a big fondue guy because the cheese fountain is a pain to clean.

Plus cheese is expensive and I've got a 22LR problem. I should never have started buying high end eley and lapua. Ugh.
