Nothing worth reading

u/westleysnipes604 Mar 06 '26

I couldn't bring myself to read it. But it definitely ruined my day all the same.

u/Hisoka365 Mar 06 '26

Yeah I'm curious too, I didn't receive anything... Was this targeted at certain holders?

u/DanLynch Mar 06 '26

I got an email saying that I am known to have registered previously-restricted firearms that are part of the ban.

7

u/wireditfellow bc Mar 06 '26

I got one today. Basically saying register before March31 and enroll in buy back program or else end of Oct the amnesty will expire. Blah blah blah.

REMINDER OF COMPLIANCE OBLIGATION

Our records indicate that certain firearms previously registered to you were deemed prohibited by a change to their classification in 2020, 2024 or 2025.

This email serves as a reminder that these prohibited firearms must be disposed of by the end of the Amnesty Orders. These Amnesty Orders end on October 30, 2026. After this date, you will be in illegal possession of these prohibited firearms.

Several options are available to you to ensure compliance prior to the expiry of the Amnesty Orders. One disposal option is participation in the Assault-Style Firearms Compensation Program (ASFCP). To participate in the ASFCP you must declare your firearm(s) by March 31, 2026.

Other options to dispose of your prohibited firearm(s) before October 30, 2026 include: • deactivating your firearm(s) without compensation • surrendering your firearm(s) to police without compensation • exporting your firearm(s)

For further information about the ASFCP, please visit the Public Safety Canada website at https://www.canada.ca/en/public-safety-canada/campaigns/firearms-buyback.html.

Research historical records of disarmed populations.

It never ends well.

Research historical records of disarmed populations.

It never ends well.

I dont need to read anything. I heard it first hand from my grandparents. They escaped eastern bloc soviet rule. They were all disarmed. All promised safety, all promised wealth equality. All promised better times. Then a within a few years the slaughters began. Many of their friends and family members were killed. Killed for being religious, killed for speaking against government, killed for demanding more rights and more food, etc. My grandparents admit they were the lucky ones, the ones that did escape with their lives.

They told all of us to never ever allow ourselves to be disarmed. Ever.

Crazy how genocide immediately follows disarmament. Almost like your guns are the only thing keeping you, your children and grandchildren free.

If all you stand to lose from this gun grab is your GSG, consider yourself lucky.

Most countries in Europe can own stuff we can't. Who gives a shit about "democracy" your voice doesnt matter anyway. Id rather live in Serbia tbh.

When every person you meet has the chance to be carrying, are you really going to be as much of an asshole to them than if you knew they didn’t?

I left a dictatorship because those in power had all the guns, and were more than willing to turn them on those without.

Never again.

Not weighing in on the disarmed populace, but your last paragraph is a pet peeve of mine.

Tanks can be taken out by a Molotov cocktail or two, they're not the big scary thing people think they are, and are pretty useless in a place like Canada outside of the prairies.

Smaller drones can be (and have been frequently) taken out with shotguns, and large ones require support on the ground or at sea for refuelling and maintenance and can't be replaced nearly as fast, so (especially if we're talking a hypothetical tyrannical Canadian government) rifles could be instrumental in ruining that capability through ground assaults.

On top of all of this, in order to actually dominate a populace, a tyrannical government would have to rely on ground troops, and a GSG is better than nothing for fighting them.

This won't be popular here (I love my guns too), but that's not an accurate statement and I would hesitate to say that.

A very close and relatively recent example would be Australia's firearms reforms in 1996. Spoiler: it went fine.

Edit: because this doesn't seem clear to people here (which I expected). First, I'm NOT saying that the govt is doing the right thing and I'm NOT saying that we should do what Australia did. Second, my main point is simply that the govt CAN go through with this and it will not lead to some crazy uprising apocalyptic scenario. That's it

  • It has gone fine so far.

You know this is just a beta test for future property rights violations on other things right?

How is it not a violation of our rights? We lawfully acquired property, we didnt break any laws, yet the property is still be taken away from us? Its just another step at taking us away from our independence as individuals and its too bad there isn't larger protests. I agree, taking our guns away, probably won't lead to tyranny. But what the hell, it doesnt benefit public safety in any way, so why the hell are they putting so many resources into disarming us when we havent posed any threat? Of course that's going to harvest sentiment that maybe the government is planning something.

It had literally no effect on violent crime rates.

-2

u/ninnnnnja Mar 06 '26

That wasn't my point. All I'm saying is that "it never ends well", is not true.

Much like you in high school.

-1

u/ninnnnnja Mar 06 '26

I'll play along: people that care or judge someone based on high school definitely means you amounted to nothing as an full grown adult. Still a boy

1

u/preferablyoutside Mar 07 '26

I’d characterize you as the type of person that calls the cops on children not wearing helmets while riding pedal bikes, yet can’t wait to virtue signal on your social media platform of choice. Never volunteered an hour in your community yet complain about the lack of community. Went no contact with your elderly parents due to them infringing on your mental health time (they asked you to help them move a piece of furniture.) Overall, a stain on the couch of humanity

u/ninnnnnja Mar 08 '26

Ouch brother, looks like your feelings got hurt when my last post didn't specifically target you.

You are a snowflake, full stop.

12

u/rastamasta45 Mar 06 '26

This is fantastic!

7

u/22GageEnthusiast Mar 06 '26

What email? Who said anything about an email? I never got any email. They're sending emails out now?

7

u/BigKWE Mar 06 '26

It's almost like they are upset that not enough people are signing up. Also if they are only offering $2.00 for an HK-416 and the same for a Type 81 I'd rather hand them in a stripped out receiver set.

6

u/Geralt-of-Rivai Mar 06 '26

I never saw anything, must have gone to spam folder and automatically deleted. Ah well

3

u/ShotgunSquitters Mar 06 '26

As a crazy Dutch bastard, I take exception to the comparison with the RCMP.

3

u/mindlesstake Mar 06 '26

Seriously, what is our plan?

3

u/FedInformant Mar 07 '26

I wonder why the CCFR isn't hosting a bunch of nation wide protests??

2

u/mindlesstake Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26

I don't understand the purpose of CCFR at this point.

1

u/FedInformant Mar 07 '26

I agree, im pretty disappointed. If they set up flyers and announced a nation wide protest on a day, for a couple cities in every province, it could maybe make a difference. But who knows maybe they are afraid that there would be legal complications
