10 bucks says this rifle specifically will somehow take fed and reject cci š or eat everything right thru it no problem the eley force js 42gr so im expecting with that amount it should kick the chamber back smoothly
+1 to this comment. Mine had so much oil, America almost invaded it. Cleaned the hell out of it, gave it a nice little lube and CCI mini mag runs nearly flawlessly through it. Aguila is 75% success. Winchester M22 is probably 50%, maybe sub 50%.
I use Hoppes 9 gun oil. Itās a good, trusted oil. I use its solvent cleaner as well. Iām sure there are better brands out there, but you canāt go wrong with Hoppes 9.
My trick to your #2, is get all 3 lol. Just ordered the white TM22 pro 16ā a few days ago.
In all honestly, for the price of all 3 of them.. if you have the bit of change, it doesnāt hurt to just grab all 3. Iām sure they are all great in their own ways.
My rf224 takes federal bulk really well to be honest, have only had 2 failures, one failure to feed with super cheap ammo, one light strike with federal but just cleaned it. Haven't tested much but I've had good luck with federal bulk just for plinking and fun shooting. Also not sure if youve had the same issue but my magazine adapter was slightly loose in the stock magwell, I put a layer of electrical tape around the sides of the adapter and it fits much more snug. Other than that It's been relatively reliable through the 500rds or so that I've shot through it
I'm not sure, all mine fill to atleast 20, i leave it at 20 cause the 22 feels a little tight, and the mags plastic feels a little flimsy to be honest. I've never had it stop feeding past 6 in any of my mags out of the 3 I have. They're clear though, anything maybe blocking the follower maybe below it? Maybe a crack in the mag? I almost want to say just push harder but I won't because it's not my mag and it probably wont work haha, Im relatively new to firearms so I'm not sure of any common issues it could be
Also it seems like people are recommending the stingers way over the federal, mine specifically feeds and fires federal with little to no failures like i said, but I know these things tend to vary alot based on the specific rifle haha
So this is a common issue, you need to force load it to 22 (press really hard) with enough cycles it gets smooth to load (I had to do this on all 4 of my mags). Now she holds 25 with no real issues. I would dry cycle the mags and load them to break them in.
Donāt forget to open bolt when inserting the adapter. My mag fell out a couple times until I read the warning printed directly on the Sbi adapter š (didnāt happen on my Adler but did on my 10/22)
A little bit of filing on the 597 mags and it works well in the adapter, it took 15 maybe 20 mins per mag (go slow don't be aggressive). And my drum mag goes in and out nice and cycles fine.
I threw a layer of two of electrical tape around the outside of my adapter and it fits snug in the magwell, I avent had issues with it but I also might be lucky.
I accidentally pulled it out not knowing the adapter has its own release for the 597 magazines its a bit wobbly unlike my damn boating accident gsg-16 magwell those mags were shit atleast they sat
I havenāt gotten mine to cycle more than 1 or two rounds of that exact federal. It will only run CCI and Iāve put like 2k rounds through it. Hopfully you have a 10/22 because Iām almost certain that 224 will not work with it.
I've honestly had good luck with that federal, I really think these guns just are picky based on the specific rifle, mine eats the federal well though through 500rds, one light strike, and one failure to feed/eject or whatever from some super cheap 22 ammo from i cant even remember what brand my buddy brought out. Ive ran only federal through though and its been good
How does CCI mini-mag perform in the RF224? I like the RF224 look way more than the TM22, but the TM22 crowd is getting to my head telling me the RF224 sucks lol
The mini-nag should perform fine, I haven't personally used it myself but others have commented that it feeds fine.
I've personally used the Stingers 100% of the time and have not looked back.
Yeah the rf224 needs a break in period and the 597 mags also need to be worn in...but damn, once everything is broken in and you've gone thru 500+ rnds, the thing shoots so smoothly and cycles so well.
Good to know, I appreciate it. Specād out a TM22 that I didnāt totally hate, but man, this RF is calling my name š¤£. What was the break in period like? How many rounds did you need to send through it before the hiccups went away?
If you clean the rifle when you get it, and use CCI, then very minimal break in period. Maybe 75-100 rnds? I don't recall what I did..it felt like the moment I cleaned it and used CCI stingers, all my problems went away. No more FTF and FTE.
If you're using the 597 mags, try to feed the mags around 100 rnds before it's worn in and the plastic nibs wear down.
I have been using Federal Champion for years in two of my 10/22 style rifles from different makers, it works just fine, all I can see is very rare failure to ignite, once in 500 rounds maybe. Something wrong with these guns or 10/22 is just a superior design...
That ammo also works fine in my 22LR handguns, I can't believe people have problems with it.
Yeah we hear ya it works on 10/22. It's just this particular .22 from Adler is so picky. We're not sure why.
Believe me, I would love to use some cheaper than CCI minimags or stingers...but I'm telling ya, with this particular model and rifle, it only seems to want to cycle/feed with high velocity ammo like minimag or stingers.
Usually 40 grain copper or nickel plated round nose feed the most reliably. Ymmv, but depending on the gun design / quality control and your specific gun feed ramp / magazine feed lip / magazine spring pressure / bolt speed (changes due to friction and powder load and projectile mass) / ammunition consistency different loads are gonna cycle more or less reliably in your gun. I don't really trust anecdotal stuff about not even trying certain loads. Imo it's better to buy a box of everything that remotely interests you to run in your gun and just try them out. Worst case you get valuable jam clearing training, best case they run fine in your gun and you know what to stock up on.
My Adler is broken in to the point it works fine with minimag now but I just love the report and smoke of the stingers. Theyāre the Gucci .22Lr and I imagine they would mess a varmint up alright too hehe
Im thinking about getting this rifle. The only thing that is stopping me is I saw on one of the post (and youtube) is its very hard to field strip and clean it. Pls advise.

Do you know how it compares to a TM-22? Someone said that the Adler's are lower quality or else perform worse. I am curious to hear some other perspectives on it, as I am in the market for a 22.
I have an RF-224 with more than 1000 rounds thru it. I was near ready to loose all hope. HOWEVER The reliability and fun increased dramatically after I installed the Volquartson firing pin (goodbye to light strikes) and claw extractor. It also runs like a champ on Aguila SuperMaximum 1700 ft/sec - much more Ka-pow & better accuracy than mini mags. But every gun likes what it likes.
