News / Politics / Activism Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

It's actually disgusting that this is allowed. Carney got something like 40% of the vote, Polievre was only a couple percentage points behind, yet the wishes of 35-38% of the country are just being totally steamrolled.

I hope for the West's sake that this kicks off that Alberta separatism even more. I sort of think it will, at least the Liberals were forced to govern slightly moderately more center when in a minority, I think we are going to see full on net zero, tax and spend freight train plough through the country now that there will be no meaningful opposition. Not even like Trudeau's fucky deal with the NDP twisting his arm, Carney will be able to govern basically like a king now, while receiving well under half of the votes in the country. It's fucked.

I hope it gets worse for 2 reasons. 1) its what we fucking deserve for this and I want to see liberals suffer 2) make Alberta (maybe even sask and more) separatism look more appealing to people as, like you said, shit goes from moderate to miserable.
