First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

What’s even left to OIC at this point?

When the end goal is all firearms ownership, plenty. My personal suspicion is remaining semis ( SKS has a target on it, plenty of shotguns left too, a few stragglers in centre fire).

Then they'll move onto anything with a detachable magazine which will be rough. Once they justify that the goal post moves to "if we didn't allow 5 in the mag, why allow 5 in the tube". It's not hard to extrapolate how easy it is for them regardless of status

As the more they add the more non compliance numbers will increase. I

I honestly don't think that matters to them since no one holds our government accountable. Surely our new PBO will...

I think at this point they will just keep up what’s been banned and keep kicking the can down the road and claim it being a ‘messaging.’ Issue.

It's the long game, keep the wedge, maintain the illusion of safety, keep your friends employed and win some suburban votes. Plus they can spin it up when they need positive media coverage despite the outspoken criticism.

Yes however that’s adding even more food to there plate. They are already struggling with the food they currently have. I doubt they want to add even more.

Sure but it’s becoming quite a embarrassment for them.

Which is why I doubt they will ban more stuff via OIC when they have not even dealt with the currently banned guns.

They can and will always ban a few more when they need a cheap quick boost in popularity.  They can frame it however they want "evil gun lobby going around our bans!" Or whatever they want.  I fully believe they will ban more, and will need to to keep the gun hate going. 

My question is whats going yo happen with the court cases where they said "the gun buy back is legal because you are getting money" when no one gets money. Either the courts will need to go agaisnt it or something.

Either way, it gonna get worse before it gets better (it wont get better)

I expect that the courts would side with the govt regarding bans at whim. I would likewise expect that the courts rule "MUST" on compensation and for market value. Otherwise it sets a truly bad legal precedent regarding expropriation.

Even the most koolaid drunk liberal SCC judge would see the disaster of uncompensated expropriation coming a mile away. Just look at the can of worms BC in thier infinite wisdom opened up by letting property deeds become a question of "maybe you do maybe you don't own your home. Let us consult the entrails"
