First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Boomers sold out all generations after them for the best life. Now they reap the riches and we pay for it, our children will pay for it and our grandchildren will pay for it. It’s actually wild.

Remember the “occupy wall street” protests and how liberals and leftist all hated investing bankers? I don’t understand how the young liberals voted for Carney.

I’m in university and know a lot of obviously liberal students. Most of them go off the assumption that “Peepee” is going to ban women, LGBTQ+, abortions, and minorities. Anyone who leans right is “brainwashed” in their eyes. I have no idea why these seemingly smart people are so easy to trick

Unfortunately PP does spend a lot of time talking about gender issues as does his cabinet members. If they dropped the identity politics that only appeals to their base they would probably do better.

I mean I literally am dating another dude and I don’t really think Pierre’s out to get me. I haven’t really seen him say anything I would consider “nasty” within the last decade. I think when he does talk about the genuinely ridiculous stuff going on people spin it how they want to see it, and they wanna see it as the typical “conservative = homophobe”

Usually he's just beating the drum on fiscal policy and immigration.

He's beating the drum on it now, now that the election is over, and he can go back to Twitter-tier "policy" and soundbytes.

He was silent on both fronts when it came to the election.

I wish PP was this super right wing outside the current paradigm liberal/conservative hole where its 2 wings of the same bird, one going the speed limit the other hit the pedal to the floor so hard he broke it off. But PP is like, a liberal from what, 1995? 2005? Hes conserving shit from just a few decades ago. He ain't gonna take a way women's rights, gender issues whatever.  

Come get me when a conservative goes against our current cultural norms and does "taboo" stuff the boomers set up or made mainstream back in the 60s.

He might not always SAY the most progressive thing, but I agree that he isn’t looking to take away rights. Like I said in an earlier comment, I’m literally a young gay dude and I voted for him. I don’t feel like he wants to do me harm, and I think the people that DO think that are either confused or just got lied to.
