Daily reminder that the elbows up movement is about supporting Canadian businesses and products, something that should be non-partisan.
If you have a negative perception and like to sarcastically crack jokes about it, its because your algorithm has exposed you to American/Russian propaganda and you bought it, and are now doing their work for them by actively trying to shit on the movement
This was literally the liberal government’s slogan in the 2025 election. They made it political.
The liberal government is the only party that actually supports this ban. The Conservatives and NDP are both actively against this.
As for supporting Canadian businesses, that is something that is non partisan. If I were to write “buy Canadian” then go ahead, criticize me. But don’t come after me after I literally used the Liberal’s slogan.
If 20 million people engage in an activity that helps our country, and then some politicians capitalize on its popularity to curry votes, does that negate the value of the original activism?
Does being sarcastic, and attempting to attack the premise of the movement likely lead to some people losing hope or effort in this cause?
First one is no, second one is yes.
It's why I'm commenting. Commenting to help dispel propaganda and try to unite Canadians in a inargueably important cause for our nation isn't "coming after you". Perhaps it's feels that way on your side of the propaganda.
