Buy recommendations Backland Hunter Elite - Thoughts??
Yeah yeah I know it’s likely just another cope garbage rod…but let a man dream lol. Anyone think it could be decent?
Sounds like the elite features a heavier buffer and spring, as well as some changes to the bolt carrier. Could the improvements make this thing at least somewhat reliable out of the box?

Somewhere, deep down in my heart, I WANT it to be good. Hell, we all NEED it to be good.
But I think we all know how it'll pan out.
6
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Mar 01 '26
Yeah…I want it to be good so badly since it has the potential, but the few review videos I’ve watched are far from promising.

u/Mammoth_Telephone_61 Mar 16 '26
So from a video I watched the other day, it seems like they are shipping out new components and fixing the issues.

Looks like something ai would've given you in 2023 when asked to generate a picture of an ar15

The rifle looks like an inbred offspring of when an AR15 and a Benelli M4 mix together...

Benelli tried this with the mr1 btw
1
u/Edmonton_outdoorsman Mar 01 '26
The one benelli made wasn't hot garbage though

u/Kid-On-Reddit- Mar 01 '26
Just saying its a proven system to some degree. Not saying Crusader makes a good product.

I’m sorry but if you buy another crusader product at this point with their track record, you kinda deserve what you get lol
18
u/Remarkable_Vanilla34 Mar 01 '26
And this thing will likely get banned sooner than later. There is no logic to their bans and people forget the crypto was sold for quite awhile before the RCMP name banned it.

you kinda deserve what you get lol
Exactly how i feel about anything turkish

I have the ADLER AD500 .308 Semi Auto...its a solid rifle... no complaints at all.

u/DougMacRay617 Mar 04 '26
How much was it?
1
u/Orcasystems99 Mar 04 '26
$966 at Canadian Tire ( I got the grey one)
I believe the regualr price is $999

u/HappyCan7250 Mar 03 '26
It's kinda too bad it's not a different company making them. I wish MRA would build something like this since their QC and customer service sounds great, but maybe they figure they've been doing well with the Renegade and don't want to attract the attention of the government.
But if literally any other company made this gun, id be very tempted. I actually really like the look, at least for a Canadian cope gun. I just have heard way too many horror stories of Crusader fucking over guys on warranty and sending out broken guns to trust buying from them. I wish someone else would make something like this. Hell, even Turkey would probably handle the QC better.

Mar 01 '26
I'll be looking out for your post asking for help figuring out why your new rifle is a total piece of shit
3
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Mar 01 '26
Oh no no no. I absolutely plan to buy a Garand as my next purchase, it’s more just curiosity. If it was actually good I’d consider adding it to my wish list.

u/thealmightybees Mar 01 '26
I think I’d rather fist my own ass than buy an obvious paperweight made by those fuck goofs

u/Cock_ball_dickin Mar 01 '26
If they address the problems of the original backland hunter then maybe. And it actually sounds like they might be doing that. Tbh if I have the disposable cash in a couple months I’ll probably pick one up and test it out.
I’m a big fan of the Alcor, and tbh the Alcor with its aftermarket furniture is actually quite good. If it’s at all like the Alcor then I’m gonna be a fan

midwest industries traingle stock, railwoods grip, I kept the front end walnut, looks like a woodsy FAL

Tommy enterprises stuff. There’s some Aussie companies too that make some cool stuff

u/Cock_ball_dickin Mar 06 '26
I’m debating picking one up soon! Did you modify it at all? I wish it could take other magazine types other than its proprietary ones, I’m wondering if it’s mag well could be altered to take a different mag type
2
u/Orcasystems99 Mar 07 '26
I highly doubt it, but I did buy 6 of the longggg.. 5 round mags. (would guess with a bit of work, maybe 15-20)
I also got 4 more of the sort of longish 5 round mags. (same here... 8-10 rounds)
Other then that, I don't see any need to change anything... shoots straight, No ammo feed problems... BUT, the barrel is to short to shoot 180 grain... likes 150ish. Really like 7.65 NATO.
1
u/Infinite_Price_3550 Mar 01 '26
Have you tried 5.56 in your alcor? I’ve heard it doesn’t handle it well and you have to stick to .223.
4
u/Individual_Contact43 Mar 01 '26
The Alcor is not Wylde and it can only take 223. The barrel won’t be able to handle the 556.
1
u/Cock_ball_dickin Mar 01 '26
It technically could but it would wear out the barrel. I put 20 rounds of 5.56 through mine for shits and gigs, no problems but I was being a bit of an idiot and probably shouldn’t have done that

I love cope rifles that get banned by the horse police!
at an overpriced rate too! My favourite!!!

Is it a rifle? Is it a shotgun? Will it self implode after a single magazine? Find out next episode.

CRAPSADER NEVER CHANGES.
if ur gonna buy a cope gun, get a Renegade, not the temu MR1
3
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Mar 01 '26
I don’t plan to buy anything cru arms unless this somehow has nearly flawless reviews.
But good point. I’m already planning renegade and maverick builds for sure. I just wish we had some fun semis 😭

Another identity crisis. Cross species breeding. I'm going to name this bastard child ARnelli.

u/Status_Ticket5044 Mar 01 '26
If it weren't from Crusader Arms, if it wasn't immediately under the ban-hammer, if it garnered rave reviews for operation and accuracy, and came in at about $1200, yeah I'd give it a look...
6
u/WENCHSLAUGHTER Mar 01 '26
If you don't mind spending 2100$ on a paper weight
5
u/Remarkable_Vanilla34 Mar 01 '26
Lol hasn't stopped me yet. But if anything does it will be crusader arms not the LPC.

u/CloneFailArmy Mar 01 '26
I thought the entire purpose of this gun was to not have a pistol style grip so the Feds don’t complain.
Guess it’s time to throw that one out the window

u/Nearby_Purchase_8672 Mar 01 '26
When MSRP for the vanilla is already 1.8k, why do you need to release an elite tier that has features that sound like it will be reliable?
1
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Mar 01 '26
My thought is they’re going to quietly sunset the originals or drop the price considerably. $1.5k for one you gotta work on out of the box and $2k for something halfway decent

u/P-Potatovich Mar 01 '26
Is this.. thing semi auto? I honestly don’t think I’ve seen a more cursed gun for sale for civilian market. A Turkish (I think if I’m not wrong) semi auto Alabama offspring of m4 and ar
1
u/a-drunk-canadian al Mar 01 '26
Well it’s theoretically semi auto. More like semi semi auto but that’s Crusader for you
1
1
u/Ustauk Mar 02 '26
I hope they finally got it right, because the concept is cool. It is semi-automatic, using the "DI" internal piston pushed by gas from a gas tube method. The front end is an AR 15 gas tube , barrel, barrel nut and handguard. The receiver contains a standard AR-15 bolt on a bolt carrier modified to be attached to a shotgun style recoil harvesting system.
1
u/HappyCan7250 Mar 03 '26
That sounds like enough AR in it to get it slapped with the "variant" label sadly, although maybe not since the Renegade and Troy SAR and PAR have about the same number of AR parts, but they're strictly straight pulls or pump.
1
u/Ustauk Mar 03 '26
Hopefully it won't get banned, but one never knows. It is less likely to be banned as an AR-15 variant, and more likely to be banned when they inevitably go after all semi-auto shotguns :-(

2
u/jwin709 Mar 02 '26
Damn that looks like a really dope gun I won't be allowed to bring to the range in a few months when they do another round of bullshit bannings.
Also keep in mind all the cope guns they keep coming out with have been complete garbage.
2
u/ilikemyhondaskyline Mar 04 '26
I would buy it to give it a try I hope it uses ar barrel and mostly ar parts
1
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Mar 08 '26
I think you can change the hand guard and barrel, though apparently the regular backland hunter doesnt come with a manual so you’d have to troubleshoot if you encounter any quirks.
Likely new handguard, charging handle, and buffer upgrades would have it functioning well and looking good. Biggest issue is that you’d have to do that AFTER already paying $2k. Hopefully this specific model works better. I’d also love to swap it back to an aftermarket wood M4 stock, as I love the ranch rifle look, but idk if I’d like the bronze cerakote
2
u/Mammoth_Telephone_61 Mar 16 '26
I haven’t bought one yet, waiting for the issues to get solved, from my understanding they are fixing the issues and sending out new parts. But I have a chimera pb223 and a citadel ad500 I ordered the Tommy enterprise kits to add a more tactical factor and cool factor.
2
u/Bull-RunTheJewels Mar 28 '26
I contacted them and they said the elite has all of the upgraded parts. Has anyone bought this yet? I almost want to take one for the team. It’s either this of the Alcor 223. Which would you buy? It’s sad that is all we have to choose from for a semi in Canada.
2
2
u/Jasonbro221 Apr 21 '26
so how is it? looking to get one? the standard version without pistol grip looks ugly
1
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Apr 22 '26
Seems like the upgrades made it functional, but many argue it’s still not worth the money, especially given the makasi making it to market. I’d still get one if I had the cash, and I agree I’d probably slap a wood m4 stock on it because I actually like the AR ranch rifle look.
3
u/Agonizing-Stroke1812 Mar 01 '26
just get a normal bolt action rifle from a reputable manufacturer there's no point whatsoever in buying these cope guns. Plenty of options available whether you want the modern "tactical" look or something more classic
2
u/Defiant_Impact_1957 Mar 01 '26
This is a semi auto...
1
u/Agonizing-Stroke1812 Mar 02 '26
oh it's gonna get banned then
1
u/Defiant_Impact_1957 Mar 04 '26
maybe not. seems like the jig is up with the gun bans. even normies/non-gun owners are realizing how ridiculous this is now.

Waiting to hear news on the reclassification process since the RCMP are working on rewriting the firearms classification system before I purchase anything that looks like that lol considering future bans could be happening
1
u/HappyCan7250 Mar 03 '26
Fuck me, I didn't know the RCMP were rewriting it. Guess I can probably kiss my Homesteader goodbye. Or maybe just goodnight I guess? Since it'll be another 6 years before the government decides to try and take it?
Honestly, I don't see how rewriting the classification could work with our current laws. There's no real way to ban something like the Homesteader but keep the SKS and Garand, our laws are just so fucking convoluted and insane since Trudeau dictated them. I guess they could just ban detachable mags and wrap in duckbill SKS, the Homesteader, while keeping the Garand still legal.

If they're going to call it the Hunter, shouldn't it come in something larger than .556?

u/Slowisfast_2021 Mar 01 '26
Confirm if it has an FRT number and what its classification is. Local manufacturers don’t have to get pre-approvals or classification before selling a new product. Many bought the crypto and the Sterling R9 only to be classified as prohibited few months later.
This doesn’t mean that RCMP won’t reclassify a gun as prohibited if ordered to do so by Quebec girls. But the odds seem less if it has been already classified as non restricted.
1
u/Defiant_Impact_1957 Mar 16 '26
i'm fairly sure the crypto and R9 had FRT's. It doesn't matter if they do or don't, these guys make up the rules as they go
