Application / Regulation advice If push comes to shove - destruction question

I have absolutely no intention of forfeiting my working AR15 to the state.

That being said, if it comes down to the wire and they start leaning on us even harder as October 30 approaches, are they expecting to steal intact, working rifles?

Because I have a chop saw, and will cut my rifle into pieces and bring the scraps in a bag to the cop shop. Because fuck ’em is why.

Being the dickhead statists they are, you would probably have to make sure that the scraps have a “trigger lock” and are enclosed in a locked hard sided container.

Any thoughts?

I believe you are legally allowed/entitled to destroy your own rifle, and I dont think you have a legal responsibility to prove it beyond reporting it destroyed.

Runkle of the Bailey has touched on that a few times on his channel.

Of course if you report it destroyed and its not- that itself is a crime.

Yeah, Ian Runkle, CCFR and I think soapboxguns have all said that repeatedly. Do not lie and report the firearms as destroyed. Do not falsely claim they "fell in the lake".

Personally, I'd like to see a test case where someone used "civil disobedience of an unjust law" as a defense. The idea being to test whether civil disobedience is a protected form of freedom of expression and whether the people retain the right to defy abusive legislation.

But obviously anyone trying this is taking a big risk. So I don't think it's going to happen.

Problem is, the ones owners are going to be destroying are newly Prohibited. And Prohib destruction definitely needs to be reported.

Which brings us to a grey area: NR and R can be destroyed by the owner. But machine guns and other legitimate Prohibited firearms need to be destroyed to a high degree (chopped receiver, welded trigger mechanism etc) and by a licensed gunsmith.

So is the CFP going to allow us to self report destruction?
