Crusader Arms Templar

So the new ban lists pretty much every semi auto 223/556 except the Crusader Arms Crypto and Templar... it also states that any AR180 variant is prohibited, so it's safe to say that while I'm in possession of a firearm that is not specifically listed (for now) I still can't use it? The next election can't come quick enough.

I find the FRT situation needs to be addressed. During the CCFR court appeal a couple days ago the federal lawyers again reiterated that the FRT is not law and the judge agreed. That’s why they are saying that the OIC is justified for banning guns that had NR FRT because it’s only for internal use for RCMP officers.

This. The lack of FRT means they don't have to reclassify them because they haven't been classified. Moving forward it will be a requirement to be classified prior to sale.

Word on the street is the Crypto will be classified. Someone has already submitted one to the RCMP lab for.....reasons...to get it registered as restricted with a restricted barrel put on a crypto upper. It's a matter of time.

That's what I thought, when only the list was first released I had a slimmer of hope that I could use atleast once more before being named on the next batch but I just read that bit about AR180 variants... I guess there's no such thing as hope when the liberals are in charge.

Another thing I'm curious about is the fact that I ordered a semi auto shotgun online but with the canada post strike it hasn't been shipped yet, if that gets put onto the list will I still receive it or will it get seized? Seems like everything lined up perfectly, rcmp website went down the day of the announcement so no one could buy anything and canada post happened to be on strike so no one's orders are getting shipped

Sweet! There's that atleast

Depending on the semi auto it might be safe anyways but who knows. If they weren't careful with the ban they could piss off a lot of hunters with semi auto shotguns

It's just a cheap CD 612 that I got for cheap on black friday, nothing crazy or good, just something I figured I tried out

Everyone keep saying it's not banned yet, but the ar180 ban could cover it. It's basically a grey area right now.

And I can just imagine a dumb cop thinking it's one banned and charging someone for it. And then it's of course an uphill legal battle to show it isn't.

I feel like for any of those that have one it's not worth the risk.

I can see the leftist media headlines already of 'recently banned firearms still being used by owners' and you know the liberals will love to run it.

It's absolute bullshit and sucks but seems like it isn't worth the risk.

Maybe I'm just jealous because those with a crusader aren't banned yet but my gun was.

Yeah I don't think I'd risk it, not just for me but like you said it could snowball and fuck everyone else over!

I'm furious about the whole thing, despite all the negatives online around the templar I've never had a problem. The only issue I had was at a competition one magazine did not like to feed for some reason 🤷‍♂️ so I marked it and threw back in the back and continued on with the day! I know it's not a lot but I've put just shy of 3500 round through it without any problems

Contact your local range and see what they say, if possible contact the cfo as well

CFO would be a better idea, a range really will just be giving you their opinion.

At least with cfo you can get name etc and there's at least some documentation of who said it was ok.

As someone who was previously on the board/executive team of my range, I suspect your range wouldn't give you an answer. We avoided answering legal questions unless it was specifically in our realm of responsibility (e.g. what our range was certified for, etc) because we're not lawyers practicing firearms law any more than you are, and by providing an (apparently) definitive answer, we open the club to liability. Something as murky as the definition of "variant"... haha, no, talk to a lawyer bro.

I thought about it but there's alot of people who are going along with this shit show, and I didn't want to bring anything to anyone's attention

i've been going crazy because this wasnt mentionned anywhere but its the first thing i've noticed too. if it isnt there by name and it is a mix of ar180 and ar15 id use it until it is banned in feb...

1

u/AceArchangel Dec 13 '24

They did say those listed and 'variants' and because the AR-180 was listed that means it and all variants of the AR-180 platform are prohibited, listed by name in the ban or not. So I would absolutely not use it at least until things change after the next election and we have a better idea of what the play is after that.

u/stevecullen1990 Dec 13 '24

At least they won't ban my flintlock... I hope

1

u/PsychologyTrick7306 Dec 13 '24

I wouldn't bank on it...they are weapons of war historically. Nothing makes sense anymore.

1

u/AceArchangel Dec 13 '24

Well there goes all milsurps

1

u/LuckNo2351 Dec 12 '24

no frt no problem, i bet this december ban list was not consulting any rcmp and cfo😄

1

u/AceArchangel Dec 13 '24

IIRC the December list actually came directly from the RCMP.

I emailed the CFO for Ontario and specifically asked if the Crusader Templar was newly prohibited. Their reply simply directed me to the banned firearms list and the firearms reference table. It’s not on either as prohibited. I plan to continue to use it at the range, until I’m notified otherwise.

I emailed the Alberta CFO too and they said I was good as long as I followed all the usual protocols, I got attitude from an old fudd once but no one else cares lol at least at my range

Templar is prohibited. Do not use. They will measure your sentence in years, not months.

1

u/Artistic_Librarian82 Dec 13 '24

What about the BCL grizzly that’s not on the list and I’ve seen people using it.

1

u/CanadEHa Dec 15 '24

The Grizzly is prohibited.

0

u/tupuetupete Dec 14 '24

Templar isnt .

1

u/CanadEHa Dec 15 '24

The Templar is prohibited

1

u/tupuetupete Dec 15 '24

Nope show me proof

2

u/CanadEHa Dec 15 '24

All you have to do is read the definition. All variants. Templar is just the Sentinel, and the Crux's are just beefed up Templars. You can do your due diligence and ask the manufacturer or see that no gunshop in Canada has them up for sale anymore. When you're talking potential years in prison you should know what is prohibited.

One of my local ranges has a crypto and a Templar up for people to rent out LOL. Never had a problem with the Templar at any of the local ranges, all of the law enforcement members and RSO’s that have seen it love it! I’ve even let a few of them run some rounds through it. If it’s not listed in the ban it’s not banned simple as that. It’s not a variant of anything the crusader arms Templar is its own gun, it’s not a ar180, it’s not an ar15 it’s simply just a beefy heavy non restricted rifle that complies with all Canadian gun laws.

I couldn't fet a straight answer from anywhere so I emailed the Alberta CFO because I knew someone would kick up a stink about me using mine, and the CFO themselves said:

"In discussion with one of the Firearms Officers here, the firearm you inquired about - Crusader Arms Templar - does not have an firearms reference number and we can find no listing of it being newly prohibited or of its classification being modified.

As long as you are in compliance with the storage and transport handling requirements for non-restricted firearms, you are permitted to use this firearm at a shooting range.

If you encounter any issues, please provide us with the details and we can certainly look into it further and connect with our law enforcement partners"

I saved and screenshot the emails and low and behold the first time I took it to the range I had a fudd come over and proceed to grill me about not being allowed to use it, even after I explained everything and showed him the emails he wouldn't stop so I just turned around and kept shooting to drown his moaning out.

People have said I shouldn't have emailed them but if it's being used it's on their radar, unfortunately I have to go to a range, I wish had my own land or spot to go to

I’m about to purchase a Templar, do you mind if we private message real quick? Just wanted to ask you a few questions if you have the time I’d really appreciate it

1

u/stevecullen1990 Mar 03 '25

Sure, shoot me a message

0

u/tupuetupete Dec 16 '24

See , i was waiting for that kind of answer . Law is pretty simple . If its on the list its prohibed if its not well… ITS NOT.

Crusader sentinelle IS prohibed

Crusader templare isnt

So if you cant read law and act like a cute sheep dog with this stupid gov is your choice but at least dont spit lies.
