Yes, Canadaammoshop.com and primersshop.ca are scams. They will just steal your money.

Friend without a PAL wants give me money to buy a gun for when we go to the range. I know I have to possess/store the gun and can't transfer the gun to him (because he doesn't have a PAL). I know we can go to the range together and he can shoot the gun.

Anything I'm missing here? Is there any risk in this for me?

If your friend is giving you money to buy a gun for them and you give it to them, that's illegal.

If they gift you money and you buy a gun for yourself with it, that's fine.

Is there any reason your friend cannot get a PAL?

He's impulsive, sees something he likes and wants it. I've told him to just take the course and told him that if does want me to buy it, he can not have it. I've told him that it's my gun until he gets his PAL.

This is all fine and dandy and I understand that I can't transfer it to him without him having a PAL, but was interested if I was missing something obvious.

You're playing with a bit of a line but if he gifts you money you can do what you please with it.

Sounds like he may be able to put pressure on you for "his" gun.

Say no, take him to the range, shoot your guns.

That being said, as I awaited my rPAL there was a sale on a gun I wanted. Buddy and I went to the store, he bought the gun, I paid, he kept it until I got my card a month later.

Straw purchase? Not quite since I never had the gun in my hands until after I got my cardm

Kinda sounds like his plan is to get you to buy it so he can take it from you absent a license.

Not sure how what I wrote makes it sound like he's going to take it from me. I've been pretty clear that I keep the gun at my place until he gets a PAL.
