In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

Simple, they're using the general public's ignorance to ban guns piece by piece. First fully automatic guns were banned, that didn't stop shootings. Now they banned "scary" looking guns (there's no such thing as an "assault" rifle btw), and this too won't stop shootings. Then they banned handguns, still won't stop shootings. So obviously the next step is to ban most semi automatic guns (bill c-21) and that too will not stop shootings. Eventually they will come for every gun and that too will not stop shootings because criminals will always find a way. However we'll all be left defenseless, unarmed, and at the mercy of the government. So unless something changes it ain't looking pretty.
In an ideal world the government would admit that there is no way to stop all shootings and that millions of legal gun owners shouldn't be punished for the actions of a few criminals, but I'm not holding my hopes up for that.
