I’m going down to the states for Easter this weekend and given the ammo prices up here and all round lack of ammo I’m thinking of bringing some back up. From what I can find online the explosives act allows you to bring 5,000 rounds for personal use, obviously this cannot be restricted ammo. Just wondering if anyone has done this before and how it was at the border? I’m travelling with 1 other person and don’t want to hold them up for 4 hours, thanks.

I don't think it's an issue at OUR border. There may be issues with the purchase, possession, and export of ammo in the US as a non-resident alien.
