I'm going for my CFSC/CFRSC course later this month so apologies if this is a dumb question, but when storing non-restricted rifles, am I able to keep them in a locked case in my closet or would I need the closet to be able to lock as well?

(asking because Safes are expensive and I'm not sure if I should invest in one of those first before buying a gun) I live alone.

You can leave a NR on your kitchen table if you want so long as it has a trigger or chamber lock on it.
