I'm going for my CFSC/CFRSC course later this month so apologies if this is a dumb question, but when storing non-restricted rifles, am I able to keep them in a locked case in my closet or would I need the closet to be able to lock as well?

(asking because Safes are expensive and I'm not sure if I should invest in one of those first before buying a gun) I live alone.

Canadian tire has cheap safes for just over 100 when on sale. They meet the legal requirements and you can fit two 10 gun (really 8) side by side in most closets.
