This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

Noob type question. Do you personally wear gloves when cleaning your firearms? I was just curious what others do.

Nope, bare hands. Maybe it's dumb, but I also wash my hands compulsively, so nothing stays on my skin for long.

Some chemicals are transdermal, some remove natural oils, some dissolve protein (skin cells), some are dangerous to inhale, some are dangerous to burn (cigarettes).
