Weekly Newbies & FAQ Thread - Post your questions here for PAL/RPAL application, timelines, CFSC/CFSRC, references & requirements, or general new to firearms ownership -type questions

This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

These threads will be stickied for a week, renewing every Sunday @ about 0600 AST. Previous threads here. Take a look, your question may have been answered!

Yes and if that person has not recieved the updated rpal w/ conditions then it should be a priority to find out if its at least in the queue for printing.

1) I think it would be best to call. Other than crosschecking my verification #s I havent used the website too much yet.

2) The new RPAL will come with a list of specific transport conditions. To go to the range with a handgun you need to have the updated card, updated conditions paper and the registration certificate on you.

Its the white piece of paper that your card will come attached to. It will say the following:

  • transport of restricted firearms registered to the license holder within their province of residence by reasonably direct route.

  • transport of restricted firearms possessed for the purpose of target practice to and from all shooting ranges

  • transport to and from a business that repairs or appraises

  • transport to and from a gun show

  • transport to and from a port of exit or from a port of entry

-carry this document with your license as you must be able to produce it on demand of a peace officer.
