Ontario resident here, I have a couple questions, for the RPAL, do I need to purchase a PAL seperately? And how much is the course? I've heard it was $250-$500

You don't purchase a licence, you need to find a course in your area run by a certified instructor, look online or ask a hunting supply place or range for a recommendation. You'll take a course for the PAL and/or RPAL, do a practical test and multiple choice exam, and then submit an application to the RCMP for the licences. Combined PAL RPAL course plus application fee.. eh, I'd say $400-500. Be prepared to wait, possible over a year, to hear back from the horse cops lol. And if you want a RPAL you would do both classes usually one after another over two days!

www.fseso.org is the governing body for courses. They set the prices certify instructors, and you can find courses through the website.
