I hope so. I still don't even have a single damn gun because of how long it takes for a simple process of checking if someone's a criminal and/or a crazy takes (this is obviously this way on purpose to make sure less people have guns or have interest in acquiring them), and the more they push for banning guns and disarming people is the more I wonder if they know something we don't. Also sucks that I might not be able to enjoy basic things like semi-automatic rifles (or even anything better than a fucking flintlock muzzleloader at this point) by the time I actually get a PAL.

The Conservatives where I lived before didn't give a fuck about anyone but themselves and never kept a promise. I know this doesn't appear to be the case for Canada but I do hope they keep to their word and revert these bullshit changes and the inevitable semi-auto ban that will probably get implemented before they get elected.

Lol there is definitely something in the works that's for sure. We're fortunate to be neighbors to the US, and that we have a major political party fighting for gun rights. We'll be fine

I hope we'll be fine but the liberals basically have a dictatorship right now - the 'minority' government they have is supplemented by an obedient NDP who are almost as anti-gun as the LPC, and a Bloc that might as well be renamed Liberal Party of Quebec because they always vote in line with the LPC unless doing so directly negatively affects Quebec. The Conservatives can hopelessly counter-vote and launch counter-bills and amendments but it doesn't really amount to anything right now. I just hope there's not too much damage done for the Conservatives to fix in reasonable time, especially if we are unfortunate enough to get stuck with the Liberals for another 4 years come 2025.

Its interesting to note that it’s been speculated a few times that the Liberals aren’t necessarily big fans of working with the NDP, and the liberals would rather the Bloc to not exist at all.

The NDP are anti-gun but to a certain extent. They still represent many rural ridings and they can’t afford to pursue bans like what we seen in the amendments. They can bitch and moan about it all they want. They haven’t had an urban breakthrough and if they alienate their rural ridings they could end up losing their seats and come dangerously close to losing party status. Sometimes you have to bank on what you have. That’s why they probably won’t drop the supply and confidence agreement. They’re not in a good position for an election, and the liberals are no-doubt concerned about recent polling. Polls are not a be all-end all, but they do give an idea of what the forecast is. All in all, gun control doesn’t have as much wiggle room as it would if the liberals had a majority. There are too many caveats and nuances.

The bloc are no better, but still got enough of an earful to speak up about it when the amendments dropped. None of that is likely to change the second time around.

The liberals are not in the best situation they could be to enact heavy-handed gun control. If they really cared about it they could have gotten away with it in 2015-2019.
