I feel that the amendments will be reintroduced. I also feel that this is pyrrhic victory for us. The withdrawal of the amendments has taught the LPC some lessons. They might not be as aggressive next time and slowly bleed the types of firearms available. We also lost MacGregor as a champion for our cause. We are still losing handguns and I’m sure the amendments will be reintroduced. Gun control is a distraction from all the other shit going on and it’s working as intended

That is about the only thing we can say won't happen. Julian clarified what happened last week a bit when he was on CBC. He basically confirmed the speaker had the motion in front of him to rule the amendments out of scope and the LPC pulled them before that happened. He was very clear in that interview that he wanted to focus on ghost guns as an amendment.

Maybe not reintroduced as amendments to the current bill but reintroduced in a new bill perhaps, maybe I’m just cynical but I don’t believe this is the last we have seen of those lists of bans

Yes, I suspect a revised version of G4 will appear in a new bill. I think it may take a while, but I would be shocked if it didn't come before the end of the year.

Maybe after C-21 receives Royal Assent, which looks to be in the fall.

Woah, if C-21 got the Royal Assent, wouldn't that make it harder for future government to change?

Yes, it would require the CPC to have a majority to undue the handgun freeze.

I'm not that fussed about it in the long run though because the CPC need a majority to rewrite the Firearms Act anyway.

Yes, that is true but most of us, no matter how small it is, would prefer it not etched in stone, then have to re etch it again down the road.

Because Liberal will definitely use it as a wedge issue.

At the very least, maybe we should write some thank you letters to MacGregor that at least he has the initiative to investigate it on his own and make correct judgement on the matter.
