Weekly Newbies & FAQ Thread - Post your questions here for PAL/RPAL application, timelines, CFSC/CFSRC, references & requirements, or general new to firearms ownership -type questions

This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

PAL timeline (BC):

Nov 20, CFSC

Nov 21, Online application successfully submitted and cc charged

Dec 28ish, Approved and issued

Jan 23-27, Printed and mailed out

Feb 2, Received (new card style)

We're you tracking the progress at all through the online portal? And if so what did the different stages say?

At first I was only checking on MyCFP where you put the application in. Status never changed from "application successfully submitted" (still says that)

It wasn't until Dec 28 that I found out that there was the seperate RCMP IWS portal that shows a little more info that said my "app was submitted and license was issued" "if not received within 2 weeks, call CFP" (still says that)

Called twice after that to get info about when it was printed and mailed

ok good to know. im BC aswell so assuming there is some sort of order to there work mine hopfully will be done in next few weeks.

I’m in Bc applied for my RPAL in April. Finally says look for it in the mail. My sons had his since august and my husband since December. All applied at the same time. My son’s was done soon enough to buy one handgun.
