Weekly Newbies & FAQ Thread - Post your questions here for PAL/RPAL application, timelines, CFSC/CFSRC, references & requirements, or general new to firearms ownership -type questions

This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

CC charged Nov 6th still showing "We have completed the intial review", in Alberta so it's taking a little bit for sure if anyone is wondering. Mailed in not online (had no idea you could do it online insturctors are still giving paper applications to mail in no mention of online from my experiance)

The Alberta CFO office is fairly responsive. Call (keep trying, it can be tough to get through). You can ask for the status and if you need to do anything. Recently reported timelines for Alberta indicate yours is taking a little longer than usual. Maybe you missed a signature, or something like that.

Sounds good thanks for the info i did send an email last night as i work odd shifts and at the end of the auto response it gave me time lines that seem way off,

New PAL 12-18 months Renewal PAL 8-12 months Minor 6-8 months Transfers 4-6 months Licence card printing 3-4weeks
