Quick question, if a friend or family member has inherited a hunting rifle in the 1950s, never registered it and the rifle is gathering dust in storage somewhere, is it legal for someone to register it or is it better to just destroy it?

Just hand it to a licensed gun owner and keep quiet about illegally owning a gun. nonrestricted guns don't require registration.

Okay fair. Biggest disadvantage to this back-door registry.

Except if you live in Québec, they still have a registry for non-restricted firearms
