This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.
In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

Some online stores do ask for a photocopy of your PAL. Those who don’t, it’s your call to make whether you want to place an order.
Traditionally you need your ID for instore purchases, so it’s obvious to me that the RCMP say you need to have your card for any purchase. I just assume that if I have a valid license I’m legally authorized to purchase online regardless of where my physical card is, but I’ve never obtained a legal opinion about this.
