I just got my first handgun transferred finally. I’ve heard you should give them a good first clean to remove the excess factory oil. Does anyone have some good recommendation on what products to use and guides they follow?

I like using a boresnake and clp. Hoppes makes both of things.

In terms of a guide, I think you want a little bit of oil on the frame rails, and on the slide where those rails ride. Some might call for a tiny bit on the trigger and hammer assemblies (if you have a hammer), but thats about it.
