Asked the son if he wanted to tag a long and we headed off to put some rounds down range. Son had a great time with the S&W 1854 and Taipan.

I tried a 5shot group at 100yards with the Taipan before packing up. I’m sure it can do a hair better properly bagged and setup but we were just ringing steels on a sunny Saturday.

Hey guys, looking for some help here, been looking to maybe replacing my current 223 bolt gun, an MVP Patrol in 223, 16" barrel, AR mag compatible. I may still keep the Patrol because it's shockingly accurate though, but I want another reasonably affordable 223 bolt gun with a 16-20" barrel. I also already have a Troy SAR straight pull in 223 as well.

I've been looking for another bolt gun in 223 in the $500-$1k range and have been going back and forth between a Savage 110 (not sure on the model, maybe Hog Hunter with the 20" barrel) or an XPR Stealth with a 16" barrel. Also been considering maybe a Rem 783.

Any owners of either rifle care to chime in or offer their insights? I owned a Savage Axis and hated it, sloppy bolt, but I got to handle a 110 recently and was quite impressed, but only briefly handled it so my concerns are if the bolt has the same rough, sloppy feel of the Axis?

The XPR also looks quite nice, and I like the 16" barrel option, but I don't know a ton about them and have never handled one in person. No shops near me seem to carry both models to actually compare them in person. I believe both rifles have medium contour barrels, and I want either a heavy, or at least medium barrel. My first choice would probably be a Ruger American Ranch in 223, but they seem to be fully sold out and there's no much available used either.

Any other suggestions, or insights from owners, would be appreciated. I also already own a CZ600 but in 7.62x39, and it's a great rifle, but with CZ being dicks to Canadian gun owners, and already owning one of them, I kind of want to try something else (plus the CZ seems to only come in 24" barrel in 223). Any other suggestions under $1k for a 223 with a 16-20" heavy or medium barrel? I was considering maybe a Rem 783 as well but reviews are very mixed

Not too bad for the old man’s moose gun that I just bring out the odd time to run some rounds through. Burris 3-9x and shooting cheap PPU. The blast from the 300wm is always a laugh since I’m usually shooting smaller stuff for fun.

Anyone on here live on the island? the spot I usually go shoot at in the woods has had the roads dug up due to asshats leaving garbage everywhere and damaging logging equipment. Im looking to find some new spots to shoot. Im in the Cowichan valley but will go further afield to find a decent, safe spot.

Got my hands on this unit, Remington Genesis.. kicks like a mule but super fun to bring out every now and then.

Would you say I did well? I don’t mean to be cocky in any way. I am kind of new to target shooting, so trying to gauge my skill level. One things for sure I had a great time. There something about shooting with iron sights , feels kind of pure, simple and relaxing.

Quick morning range trip with two of my favourites

I'm in southern Alberta newish to the area, looking for any groups or just people that go out and shoot that are newer shooter friendly! I'm a member at the Lethbridge range but sadly not taber and have kinda taught myself everything I do know(not much and am new to scopes as in onterrible we just used irons) If anyone's interested hit up! I'm probably gonna go out tomorrow since I just zero'd my new rifle today and want to see about hitting the 300 mark a little more reliably lol

So I’m trying to shoot more clays this summer, I live in Halifax NS and I’m wondering where everyone else is doing it. I know there is a sporting clays club(nova sporting clays) that I’m interested in but haven’t spoken to anyone that’s ever been there. I also own an electric clay thrower I’d love to get some use out of but I’m not sure where I can safely/legally shoot clays on my own, I’ve heard people shoot clays at the DNR ranges around the province but the website seems to say that’s a no-no

So does anyone have any experiences to share from nova sporting clays? And does anyone know of a place I can shoot clays on my own?

Last year I bought my first hunting rifle, a Winchester XPR in 270 Win. I am relatively new to guns, so I didn't know a whole lot when I bought it. I intend to start hunting with deer, and later move up to bear, moose, and elk. Somehow I chose 150 gr bullets, and used those to sight my rifle in. I am slowly working through a few brands to see what my rifle shoots the best. But I have noticed that 130 gr bullets seem to be more plentiful, and a hair cheaper sometimes. And some brands (Aguila, Herters, Hornady) don't seem to make 150 gr rounds at all. 130 gr might be the better option for deer, but I don't know if they will be the best for bigger game, and I don't know when I will hunt what.

So I am wondering if it is worth switching to 130 gr bullets. Should I bother to re-sight my rifle in, or is the difference minimal and will I be just fine as I am? Thank you for the answers.

I love shooting shotguns but have nothing to shoot with them. Obviously I can do clays but that’s no ideal with my mossberg shockwave.

Shooting is more fun with friends, so added a competitive mode called Showdown. Two or more shooters, same round count. Rings are caliber-corrected so folks competing don’t need to be running the same cartridge. Score at the line, no app needed. Users were already adapting the precision challenge mode for competition, this just adds more formal rules and a need for round allocation strategy.

Also added KYL targets, scope tracking targets, DOPE cards, and a bigger caliber list.
