Weekly Newbies & FAQ Thread - Post your questions here for PAL/RPAL application, timelines, CFSC/CFSRC, references & requirements, or general new to firearms ownership -type questions

This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

Ontario PAL:

Received by RCMP August 4th

CC charged October 6th

Approved October 13th

Came in mail October 24th

Less than 3 months. It seems to be improving.

My app was received Aug 5th

CC charge October 7th and showed initial review complete.

October 18th my first referance was interviewed. My second did not receive a call.

Waiting to see whats next. I had to answer yes to some background stuff.... no criminal record but an assault charge from 2005 as a youth.

Still seems like its moving quicker than i anticipated.... fingers crossed

When did yours show up as “issued” on the website? The first time I saw that it had been issued was last Tuesday and I still have nothing in the mail. It’s concerning because I changed my address while my application was still being processed and I’m dreading having to deal with it if it becomes a problem because it seems impossible to contact CFP…

Approved on October 13th. I was nervous as well because mine took 11 days to come in the mail.
