Weekly Newbies & FAQ Thread - Post your questions here for PAL/RPAL application, timelines, CFSC/CFSRC, references & requirements, or general new to firearms ownership -type questions

This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

The 'temporary' part of the freeze is only until the bill is passed and becomes law. It will be permanent as soon as that passes. Also, gun owners in Canada aren't registered, they're licensed. Did you mean a restricted gun owner? 'Cause there are still restricted firearms that you can buy such as short barrelled rifles.

TBH I meant licensed but what is the difference? Total noob btw.

Licensed is the right to use or do something based off a agreement with a governing entity on a restricted action or operation a person can do because of the possibilities of improperly doing so.

Registered means you have given information about a situation or object that is under a controlled program, ideal, or law for public records and safety

When you say registered in the gun world in canada we think your talking about a restricted(real thing) or non restricted(Store inventory registry upon sale) gun registration

When you say licensed in the gun world in canada we think PAL or RPAL is what is being referenced.

If your getting into this hobby everything you say has proper terms and such because it's so controlled for safety and operation purposes
