Weekly Newbies & FAQ Thread - Post your questions here for PAL/RPAL application, timelines, CFSC/CFSRC, references & requirements, or general new to firearms ownership -type questions

This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

Previous responses are correct. I just want to add that the government has been saying that they will soon be announcing further regulatory changes to “strengthen” the current storage laws. I recently bought my first restricted guns and I’m planning to buy a safe, but since we don’t know what the new regs will be (possibly setting standards for what constitutes a safe—metal thickness, etc), I’ve been holding off for now and just using a regular locking case.

Presumably not, but we don’t know what specific changes they will be making to the storage rules. It might not have anything to do with safes.
