Just found out my RPAL has been approved and mailed. This may be a silly question, but is it possible to start the process of buying a handgun without the physical card in hand? If I was lucky enough to get through the CFO phone line queue and get my RPAL license number?

Normally I’d wait and be patient. But who knows how much longer we’ll have. Thanks all!

Yes you can. I did this with my first purchase. Lots of stores just need the number. And I believe you can get the number by logging into the RCMP individual web services site.

Thanks for the response! I’m going to try my luck with the phone line. To log into the individual web service it appears that I already need my license number. Otherwise it seems to just prompt me with my reference number for the approved license

Yes you’re right. Sorry about that. Looks like you’ll have to call. I’ve had luck just by brute force calling repeatedly until I get put on hold. Then it’s usually about 30 minutes on hold.

Not a problem! Yeah I think I’m going to need to get up early and be patient with the phone lines. Hoping for the best
