This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

You need an RPAL.

There's plenty of rifles and other guns that fall under the 'restricted' category meaning even without handguns, there's still many uses for an RPAL.

He's saying you can absolutely still get an RPAL but considering the wait time is roughly 6 months, you're going to be SOL for buying a handgun in which transfers are set to be frozen this month.

Handgun transfers have been threatened by our prime minister and may be stopped at any time, you may have to wait for a change in government.

I know they were threatened but wasn’t sure if you can’t get the license still or not.

Right now you can get an rPAL and buy a handgun, next week not so sure. Trudeau jr has been systematically harrassing licensed gun owners because he can't imagine how to enforce existing gun laws.
