I have a pending transfer for a restricted firearm in BC. Is there a excel sheet tracking where BC CFO's progress are at on transfers. My ref# is 5997xxx. I purchased on Aug6 and transfer initiated on Aug15.

Following because I just made a purchase last night.

But I have to ask, did you follow up with the seller, or anyone else, after you made your purchase? I believe the time to start calling the BC CFO is after you get word from the seller that they've initiated the transfer ... but I'm not positive.

Regardless, good luck getting your issue resolved.

I purchased from a store - HiCal in Mission, BC. I called the federal information officer 3 weeks ago and they said it's a 4-6 weeks wait due to the amount of transfers they have being processed. I called HiCal a week after my purchase and they have done their part by initiating the transfer and it's up to the provincial CFO to do their job. It's pretty much a waiting game for me...Although, I've been hearing people "cut in line" by calling the BC CFO to get the transfer approved over the phone.

I've been trying for days calling the BC CFO extension line, but it's always so busy and the line hangs up right away so you can't really go on hold and wait.

Thanks a ton for the info, very helpful.

It’s insane how impossible it is to get through via phone, and/or also being on hold for 30 or 60 minutes for it just to hang up on you. I feel for the workers that have been put in that position, I suspect Trudeau hasn’t made many fans there either.

Try calling at 11am. Maybe I just got very lucky, but I tried calling the BC CFO for the first time on Monday at 11am and got through to someone after 10 minutes on hold.

Thanks. I got through when I called at 11:30. I was on hold for 30minutes and I had a chance to talk to an officer. She said my transfer application is currently being reviewed and was sent to the registry. Something about making sure that the seller actually has the firearm and that it's registered.

The lady I spoke to was very courteous and said it should take another week. I was about to get it approved over the phone but because my transfer application was sent to the registry, she couldn't approve it. Whatever that means.

*fingers crossed I get it next week*

Weird. Sounds like you just got unlucky. Well I hope she’s right and that it gets approved in a week. Good luck!
