It does have a synthetic stock and I know since it's .308 or 30-06 it won't be cheap, and barrel will wear out. Should I consider it knowing all these extra things for a beginner or would it be too much things to worry about? I'm mainly interested in plinking, but I may pick up hunting small game later down the line.

I think you have to shoot a lot for barrel wear to be significant.

How you consider reloading for 308 or 30 06?
