How long does it take to transfer a restricted handgun? I know it varies, but the buyer is getting it antsy. It has been a week and I initiated the transfer (Saskatchewan) to him (Buyer in Quebec).

Any insight to how long it takes? I obviously cannot ship until the transfer completes.

I had one private in BC rushed through in a day. Another one for Ontario quoted 10 weeks.

2 retail in 9 days and one retail from a week later is now in week 3.

Ah. Damn the time is so variable.

Ya. I purchased 2 guns 2 days apart. The retailer had a glitch and did not start the transfer. Then about 5 days after the freeze announcement I called and found out it hadn't been initiated. That transfer is taking 3 times longer. And I understand my 9 day transfers were abnormally fast.

The buyer who got 1 day transfer had a lucky call back from CFO that day. His CFO also sent me my ATT.

Dang lucky. So I guess all I can do is tell the buyer to be patient and wait for CFO to complete transfer and send me an ATT?

If you both have called the CFO and initiated everything the Quebec buyer needs to be patient.

I had a buyer ask if he could pay half after transfer is processed. I told him the only reason I was selling him the gun was to buy something else.

The transfer goes to the sellers CFO which is why you see varying transfer times. Being Quebec it won't be as quick as some of the smaller provinces so he should expect a bit of a wait.
