I bought a handgun from a private seller, transfer was approved last Friday. Can the seller ship the pistol to me without any further documents or do I need to apply for an ATT? Basically I want to know what happens next. Thanks

ATT is included with your weapon registration now, and is considered a condition of the license - IE - your RPAL is your ATT (for trips to the range). Trips to gunsmiths, gun shows or other such trips were removed from your license conditions July 7th of last year, see letter.

I advise everyone who thinks you need an ATT to take your gun home or to the range do some research instead of giving newbies bad information.

Edit - Forgot to add that when you buy your first restricted firearm, they send you an amended RPAL - until yo get that, you don't take it to the range. However, it is automatic.

You do not need an ATT to take your guns home from the post office. Your transfer approval allows you to take it directly to your home (or wherever your registered storage space is) from the pickup point. You do need your updated license before you can take it out of the home again. I again recommend that people do their research before misinforming new gun owners.

I wonder what "take possession" means on your transfer notice... and also every major online weapons wholesaler has an FAQ page that supports my view. G4C, GoTenda, and a few others off the top of my head. Certainly if a firearms dealer was telling their customers to break the law, they wouldn't be selling guns for very long.

No, basically just don't listen to you. Because you're wrong, and now you're being a dick instead of doing a single iota of research on how wrong you are, which I'm assuming is to save some kind of face or ego.

Automatic authorization to transport — transfer

... if a chief firearms officer has authorized the transfer of a prohibited firearm or a restricted firearm to an individual ..., the individual must be authorized ... to transport the firearm within the individual’s province of residence from the place where the individual acquires it to the place where they may possess it

"Authorization to transport to a shooting range or to home after purchase remains automatic."

Don't waste the CFO's time. They have enough on their hands right now. And whatever you do, don't listen to this guy.
