What is the handgun market like right now if I were to try to offload a couple, in comparison to a couple years ago? I'm way out of touch. Did the recent news lead to higher prices as people try to snap up whatever is out there, or lower prices as people try to offload guns before they become paperweights?

People are listing Glocks for 3 grand on the used market, so take that as you will.

I paid $1200 for a CZ that was less than $900 5 months ago and that was retail markup not the used market.

I wanna say that you could try to sell them if the comparables are in the desirable $$ ballpark. The downside to waiting last minute is nervous buyers due to transfer concerns or the flooding of the market with people desperate to sell before they’re stuck with it.

At the end of the day, as Ricky from Sunnyville says “it’s supply and command”.

If the supply is there, the prices drop. If I were a betting man, I’d say a lot of us aren’t trying to dump much as much as we’re trying to pick up lol

Hmm, it's a complex system right now. Some stores are raising prices fairly steeply. Some not; I bought a new Buckmark for a standard amount. Used handguns... these seem to be up overall.

But, I think that's a short-term pressure. I suspect that when it gets nearer transfer halt, more prices will go down as people try to liquidate their inventory.

If you're selling, I think you should sell now.

I would personally wait a little longer. Once August 19th rolls in and all imports are frozen, the small stream of new firearms will dry out and people will have no choice to turn to the used market. That should increase the demand and most likely drive up the prices. I also anticipate that there will probably be a run up to the vote and maybe a sudden drop at the end on the less interesting firearms that people will try to offload before the transfer freeze. My two cents.

So is it August 21 that all handgun(or is it any restricted gats?) imports are banned, but Canadian RPAL holders can still transfer handguns(R gats)?

Handguns will pretty easily sell at double price currently, stock in stores is scarce and used handguns prices have hiked way up! I'd be selling sooner than later, the demand is still very much prominent and you should easily sell most pistols for 2x purchase price to buyers who are more than happy to pay for the sake of owning prior to freeze.
