I'm on the path of gun ownership, and I want to ask what to watch out for.

At this time, I have:

  • called for PAL information (card is 'at the printers')
  • purchased a range membership with that
  • ordered a Rhino 60DS with these two
  • sent range membership proof to CFO

Next up, I'm going to order:

  • a gun cabinet (eyeballing 10 gun, 2 door cabinet on sale at Cabelas)
  • some trigger guards
  • a delightful selection of handguns (carbines later)
  • ear protection for my big fat head

Coming up after that, I need to sort out:

  • ATT
  • firearm care and cleaning

What am I missing?

ATT will be automatically attached to your freshly printed license when you get your first registration certificate. You will also need the paper that the licence is attached to, it states, 'conditions cut out and carry with licence'. It's stupid.

Ear and eye protection. Gloves optional.
(i find only my shotgun gets hot enough)

I will keep an eye out for for the conditions paper. I've noticed a few different comments along this line, today.

I do wear glasses (high index, not shatterproof though). I'll have to see how these, over-glasses protection, and ear muffs are going to work out for me. I suppose I can go to Cabelas and try some of their in-stock gear, and see if anything fits well.

I hadn't thought about gloves, but I expect to have a couple of revolvers. Might not be a bad idea to hands cleaner and more lead-free.

Gloves not ideal because it’s harder to feel the trigger and it’s not as safe as a result this is from a bunch of competition instructors that’s taught me. You can get lead off wipes if you’re worried.

That's interesting. I'm personally not worried about lead, but I have younger family and friends whom I would prefer to keep lead free. Thanks for bringing those wipes to my attention.

No problem! Because honestly unless you’re throwing away those gloves every practice you aren’t really preventing yourself from contacting lead just saying
