Is Norinco red-box and white-box ammo actually non-corrosive? Anyone with experience?

The red box stuff is newer production and is always non corrosive. The white box stuff can be hit and miss and should always be treated as corrosive.

Oh I see, thanks for clarifying then. Does this mean the white box stuff is discontinued and being replaced by the red box?

Yes I believe its discontinued. I only ever see the white box stuff at gun shows, every time I've bought new norinco 7.62x39 at a gun store it has always been in a red box. Also last time I had white box stuff it was headstamped 1991 while the red box stuff was 2019.

Awesome, thanks for clarifying!
Another question, if you ever have experience with .223 ammo this time

Those bulk 55grains (winchester/PMC): how much should my accuracy expectations be of them at 100 / 200 yards? I know they're not match grade ammo, but are they too inaccurate or are they capable of forming 1-2" groups?

They are absolutely capable of performing 2 inch groups, I've shot lots of bulk 223 out of my type 97 and have had good results at 100 yards. I've never done 200 though.
