I'd like opinions on starter guns:

Handgun:

Walther PDP 4.5" optic ready full size Glock 17 Sig Sauer p320 Some sort of 1911

Rifle: Savage Mark ii Ruger 10/22 (possible tacticool conversion kits for the Ruger?) GSG-16

Any leads on ranges accepting members or crown land in Ontario would be helpful too.

What are the use cases for the handgun and what do you like more? Striker vs DA/SA

They operate differently and most striker guns are plastic frame. Double action/SA has a hammer? Typical example is: Glock/P320 - striker

1911- SA hammer

So SA would be you need to cock the hammer back before firing?

For DA/SA, your first pull is generally going to be double action. This has a heavier trigger pull. That shot will cock the hammer back for you on subsequent shots, which will all be SA and have a lighter trigger pull.

You can manually cock on your first round to make them all SA.

Some people find going from DA/SA to be tricky but it’s a skill you can learn.
