Weekly Newbies & FAQ Thread - Post your questions here for PAL/RPAL application, timelines, CFSC/CFSRC, references & requirements, or general new to firearms ownership -type questions

This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

What time zone are you in? It’s 9 - 5 nationwide calling. They use your area code to determine your hours of operation. So if you’re in Alberta, the phone lines have already been open for 3.5 hours by the time you can call at 9am.

I called at 8:58, and timed it so I hit the 2 just as the clock hit 9. Still didn’t work. Try calling the French line like others have suggested. I’ve gotten through every time I’ve tried so far. You’ll still be on hold for 30+ minutes, but you will get through eventually.
